Ferns and Hellebores Screenprint

A limited edition six colour screen-print. Ferns and Hellebores (2024) is part of an ongoing exploration of Japanese visual culture. The inclusion of poetry was not uncommon among privately commissioned ‘surimono’ works. As standard, seasonal themes were referenced in haiku, foregrounding the bond between poetry and nature. The featured poem by Masaoka Shiki (1867-1902). “In the small garden, ferns have grown among the plants.” This limited edition of 12 screen prints have been hand-pulled by the artist onto age resistant 300gsm premium paper. The square format matches a 12 inch record sleeve, making a suitable frame easy to find.
