Poppies Screenprint

A limited edition six colour screen-print. Poppies (2024) is part of an ongoing exploration of Japanese visual culture. The inclusion of poetry was not uncommon among privately commissioned ‘surimono’ works. As standard, seasonal themes were referenced in haiku, foregrounding the bond between poetry and nature. The featured poem by Masaoka Shiki (1867-1902). “When the wind blows, poppies scatter — evening.” This limited edition of 12 screen prints have been hand-pulled by the artist onto 300gsm premium paper. The square format matches a 12 inch record sleeve, making a suitable frame easy to find.
